Safety: Electricity and Gas

Safety: Electricity and Gas

Making responsible use of gas and electricity is key in order to save energy and be more efficient in energy consumption.

In the following, we provide you with some recommendations regarding electrical safety, along with a series of important considerations in the use of gas in your business.

Advice About Electricity Use

  • Electrical installations should be handled without voltage. Disconnect the differential and check for the absence of electricity before starting any work.

  • Position screens and cables far away from sources of heat.

  • There are additional safety devices that prevent losses or damages resulting from the lack of electrical current. These devices are the Surge Limiter which avoids the surges caused by lightning or incidents on electricity lines, and the Re-engaging Differential, which automatically connects the installation, avoiding possible damages or losses due to lack of electricity current.

  • Remember to press the Differential Switch test button periodically to check that it is working correctly.

Advice About Gas Use

Check the state of the ventilation grilles. Never obstruct them.

In the case of prolonged absences, close the general shut-off valve of the gas for your business and for the appliances that use gas.

The appearance of the flame in the boiler indicates whether the gas pressure and the air input are correct.

  • The flame must be stable and silent and should have an intense blue colour at the core, with a lighter-coloured exterior.
  • A short blue flame often indicates an excess of air, which signifies capacity loss.
  • A yellowish and long flame often indicates a lack of air. This type of flame lowers the boiler's output increasing environmental contamination.

It is recommended that gas leak detectors be installed in the place where the boiler is located.

Annually check the gas installation and ensure that the components are in perfect condition.

If it smells like gas:

  • Close the general shut-off valve and gas appliance controls.

  • Open doors and windows

  • Do not turn on switches.

  • Do not light matches or lighters.
