The router is the device that costs the most money in stand-by mode

Published on July 17, 2019

This consists in keeping devices plugged in (on standby) even when they are not being used. Standby use accounts for about 7 to 11% of a household's total electricity bill. You are not using the devices, but they keep sucking on your power and sucking your wallet dry.
Is it possible to share the blame and find the most power-sucking devices? According to the OCU, the most expensive electrical appliance in standby mode is the router: 11.91 euros a year in the bin. It is closely followed by printers and radio alarms. Think about it next time you go out and leave all these appliances plugged in.
