You need to add oil to the water when cooking pasta?

Published on July 3, 2019

We all know this is not true; we have just never stopped to think about it. We all know that water and oil don’t mix and if you look closely, you will see what happens when you put the oil into the pan: it remains on top, forming a layer. If the pasta does stick, this is not because there is no oil in the pan; it is because it has gone beyond its ideal cooking point.

Apart from saving a little drizzle of oil each time we make macaroni, dispelling this myth will also help our palate. According to the Italian Chef Federation, adding oil to the water prevents the pasta from mixing correctly with the sauce.
