Legal resolutions regarding power

Legal resolutions regarding power

As regards power, on February 1, 2014 Order IET/107/2014 was published along with the Resolution of January 31, 2014, which respectively establish the new prices for Tolls and VPSC (formerly LRT) to be applied to electricity beginning on February 1, 2014.
In regards to how the increase in power charge affects the electricity bill, according to the latest regulated rates published by the Government in the Resolution of January 31, 2014, the power charge or fixed charge will increase by 17.9%, but the energy or variable charge will decrease by 6.9% compared with the last review (January 2014).
This means that the increase will not affect all homes and businesses equally:
  • Homes or businesses with low electricity consumption will see their electricity bill rise as a result of the increase in the power charge or fixed charge.
  • Homes or businesses with higher electricity consumption may see their electricity bill decrease as a result of the reduction in the energy charge or variable charge price.
