New electricity price alternatives for customers

Thu May 29 10:14:58 CEST 2014
Following Government approval of a new system to calculate the price of electricity, customers signed up for the Voluntary Price for Small Consumers (VPSC, formerly LRT) can choose these three options:

Voluntary Price for Small Consumers (VPSC) - formerly LRT

This price is calculated daily by the Spanish Electricity Grid (in Spanish, REE), based on:

  • The energy prices per hour on the market.
  • Applying the average consumer profile.
The price of electricity can change every hour as the electricity market evolves, and will therefore never be the same on your bills and it is not possible to know what it will be in advance. With this alternative, the amount of your bills will depend on other additional factors at the consumption level, such as the weather and energy demand.

If you had the former Last Resort Tariff (LRT) and you do not make any changes, this is the system that will apply to you from July 1st, 2014 onwards. (Royal Decree 216/2014 28 March).

Fixed Price in Regulated Market

Established in advance and fixed and stable for 12 months. With this alternative you will know the price you will pay. It does not depend on the evolution of the electricity market, and therefore the variations on the amount of your bill will depend only on your level of consumption.

This alternative may be more expensive, but you will know in advance the price you will pay for electricity.

In this case, if you would like to terminate the contract before the end of the year you will have to pay a penalty. (Royal Decree 216/2014 28 March).

If you were paying the Last Resort Tariff and you would like to contract the “Fixed Price” you must phone 800 760 333 to request it.

Offers in the Open Market

The third option is to contract a tariff in the open market, with which you will enjoy greater benefits:

  • More competitive prices than the “Fixed Price”.
  • Prices known in advance and stable for a minimum of one year.
  • No permanency contract commitment or penalties.
You can contract additional services that may entail significant discounts.

At Endesa we offer you our Tempo 24-hour rate, a 100% online rate with which you won't need to worry about energy price fluctuations. You will always enjoy a competitive price, not just during the first year, and there's no contract permancy commitment. You can learn more about our Tempo 24-hour rate

If you would like to learn about other offers, please call 800 760 909.

¿To whom do the new price models established by the government apply?

  • To customers who had the Last Resort Tariff (LRT) with contracted power of less than or equal to 10 kW
  • To customers with the Rate Subsidy.
  • Customers with contracted power over 10 kW (not entitled to LRT), who do not have a contract with a Marketing Company in an Open Market (deterrent tariff).

If you have an Open Market contract with Endesa Energía, you are not affected.
